Me, too--definitely as much green as blue in them. At least to my eyes

The problem with that is that people see colours differently. What one person sees as pure blue another seens as blue-green. I have never seen a chicken egg that did not look to have some amount of green in its hue. To me, pure blue almost tends towards red (purple/lavender) ever so slightly. Look at all the various blues (go through the whole list as not all are shown as "blue") at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_colors When I look at their sample of sky blue it looks closer to blue than to green, but to me robins egg blue is as much green as it is blue. Blue samples are consolidated at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Shades_of_blue

I completely agree with you! This is why I run when people contact me only looking for the bluest eggs you have and that is all they are interested in.

Hey, how come no one else caught this?

Aveca, chickens can't lay eggs that are different colors. Your EE lays either a pink egg,or a blue egg but she can't lay both.

LOL,Oh, but wouldnt it be cool if they did? She was the one and only EE we have ever had,, ,Most of the time her eggs were small but pale blue. the rest we had at that time all australorps.

If Im going to get into a breed, I would rather learn as much as poss befor I just jump in or impulse buy. , she was only a pet.chances are one of the aussie pullets laid a little pinkish egg in with hers and the older aussies eggs that were much larger and we ASSUMED it was hers not knowing about the breed. everyone thought those eggs were hers , . Am looking to buy hatching eggs this spring. Decent birds that can be show as well as eggs shown..so studying and asking lots of questions, I know what I like, and I like the black birds with blue eggs. they are just striking to me. Lots of nice birds, but they are my favorite. thou I am still confused there seems to be 3 different kinds , maybe more of this breed. like subspecies.

as for that pet chicken, She has gone to the big chicken coop in the sky, otherwise I would gladly take some pics for you. It was quite a long time ago. Because of her we all even the neighbors thought all EES laid multi colored eggs, and they were dissappointed they never found a greenish one, only blue and pink. At the time I didnt think too much about it. the neighbor kids would stand there and practically catch the eggs as the fell out of the chickens, some kids are like that, chickens and horses just tickle them.

Looking back on it, the neighbor who helped herself to the eggs couple times a week nic-named her mood ring cause she kept finding those same size eggs, yet they did seem to be different color, very very pale thou, not like robin egg blue changed to hello kitty pink. there was a hint of color, nuff to notice but not loud.We stood and talked about it one day and compared them, But I didnt really think anything about it. I thought it was just one of those strange things like the chicken with one green leg and one yellow leg, unless you see it you just cant beleive it..her origional owners husband was a doctor who was moving to minn , he was offered a partnership at a hospital there.we got one of thier chickens and a couple other people got the rest.

I sent a e-mail to the seller again.

I've contacted you before about the eggs.
I got 1 green 3 white eggs out of the 7 you sent.
The 1 chick that hatched does not conform to any blue black or splash chicks I've seen.
I done much research on this and came to the conclusion that either your chickns are not pure or you got my order mixed with EE's. Since you do sell EE's I think this might be the case.

Hello again,
It is difficult to confirm the breed unless I see the chick.. please feel free to send a photo to me ..... the "white" eggs you are referring to are actually very light blue..Our Blue line of Ameraucana as well as our Black and Wheaten Ameraucana lines are pure without question......If you have an easter egger chick, it will most likely have "chipmunk stripes" down it's back..not always but a good part of the time.............Your Black Ameraucana will most likely be two-toned at hatch (black on top and yellow underneath), your blue will be blue and your splash will be yellow with some possible markings here and there..sometimes they have no splashes at hatch and those come later.......My Easter Eggers do not lay pale blue eggs......I do not believe that the eggs sent to you were from my Easter Eggers but I of course cannot be absolutely positive.... human error can never be completely ruled out...We may have made a mistake.......Regardless of whether I sent the correct eggs or not, this is the second time you have contacted me with concerns about your hatching eggs... We always want everyone to be happy with their experience.... due to that fact, I have refunded your money in FULL and also refunded your shipping fees as well... I hope this helps to rectify the situation and please feel free to email the photo of the chick to me and I will identify it for you....... thank you for contacting me with your concerns.....

Before I sent this e-mail I looked at the pics posted here then I Googled/Images black blue and splash Ameraucana chicks. I saw nothing that looked like mine did. He seems closet to a black, but none anywhere had a yellowish head like mine does. I don't know if I said this before but the only chick that hatched came from the green egg.

She made good with a refund. So I don't feel so jipped.

Guess I'm still looking for some Ameraucana's.

I'm going to ask the Directors of the Club while at the Ohio Nationals to put a year on the breeders list when the person joined the club, so people have a better idea of who to choose when getting ameraucana stock/eggs.
