My baby andulasians are 3 weeks old. I have 4 of them and am wondering if I can tell if they are all female or not. I ordered pullets, but one of them does not have as prominent of tail feathers as the other 3. Do you think this one is a male? It seems that the females will get wattles as well, so how will I be able to tell??

What's comb growth like for BA pullets? I have a couple 7 week-old chicks, one (black) who already has a lot of comb development, and one (splash) who doesn't. I was thinking that #1 was probably a roo, but some of the pics I see on this thread feature pullets/hens with monstrous combs! This gives me hope for my little Francis.

Anyone out there raise any andalusian hens that had early comb development? Also, do black andalusians ever have brown heads as chicks?

Thanks!

Our babies that had early comb growth turned out to be boys, the girls combs and wattles only showed growth as they got older and closer to laying eggs-and then some of the comb lays over(maybe around 4-5 months). The one black chick we hatch was all black, maybe you could post some pictures. I'll try and look back at the pictures we took and try to post some(have been having a bit of trouble getting pictures to post

My blue andalusain pullets have slow comb growth. Andalusians aren't supposed to have big floppy combs. Yes they flop over but they aren't supposed to be that big. They're supposed to have a medium sized comb. Here is a picture for an example. For mine, the combs don't even get large enough to flop over until they are pretty much mature, and this pullets has a couple months left before she even lays her first egg. So she's aways from being mature.
