Thank you! Though they have their own faults, it will make it easier to get going. Picked them up at the Gilmanor Swap in Glen Allen, Va this month. I had a trio last fall from the same guy, but a dog attack wiped out almost my entire flock. :( Got a heck of a deal too. They were selling out for work reasons I believe. The guy got his start from Cochinman2005.

From Cochinman2005? Oh that is awesome... I am going to get eggs from him soon! Actually it will be my second set of eggs. The first batch got totally scrambled in the mail. So this time he is going to send them in a live chick box. Hopefully that way they will be handled a little more carefully.
His are the best andalusians I have seen (via the internet of course) so I am really excited.

keep us posted as to how this group does!

We are still watching the ones DD hatched out from the birds we have, at the beginning of this year to see what she might have to work with. No where near the pictures of the ones just posted- might need to look into bringing in new blood

Awesome! I hope they do well for you. My experience with shipped eggs is no matter how careful the mailman is, the airsacs still can get dislodged a bit. What I do is candle them once they arrive. You can detect hairline cracks that way and see the 'loose' aircells. If there are cracks, I usually discard them. If there are dislodged airsacs, then I don't turn the eggs at all for at least the first 1-2 weeks. Keep them in the turner pointed end down though. The loose airsac will migrate to the 'top' no matter how the egg is laid, so if it is laid on the side, the sac will be on the side. I recandle each week. Once the airsac is staying put, I resume turning. Just becareful in your candleing. Once the embryo starts growing you don't want to dislodge it while you are turning the egg for candling. I don't know everyone else's methods. Hope that all made some sense. I just thought I'd give my experience, since your eggs are traveling so far. Good luck and keep us updated!

So, does anyone have pics of stock from Butch Gunderson? I've been eyeing his page for about a year, but want to see better pics of what the offspring look like. His pics are too small for me to get an idea of what they look like.

We have 1 hen from him- I know I posted pictures of her more towards the begining of the thread, I will try posting a picture of her if I can pull it off....

I noticed as she has gotten older, the lacing isn't as crisp. HTH
