The type looks pretty good, but to be picky the blue lacing could be better and the white earlobe could be bigger, but they are better than a lot of Andalusians I see. They should lay around 6 - 7 months. However the real early layers seldom reach a good size or develope much frame. Minorcas and Andalusians often mature slowly but will lay for years, and breeding from old hens helps keep up size and vitality.

I did have some very well laced chicks growing up
But these are the only ones that survived due to a dog attack

Some very good traits to have for breeding. You have the type and size which are the important ones, you can always work on the color and lacing.Sorry to hear about the dog attack, seems like they always get the good ones.

Just starting to have DD think about which Andalusians should be paired together for the upcoming year. We kept 2 roosters and 3 cockerals back and around 8 hens/pullets. Will also have to start adding back light to get the laying going again.

We have a splash rooster and put a couple black hens in with him last year- hatched out some chicks whiched developed some nicer looking lacing- both cockerals that we kept so DD is excited to see what will be produced for chicks for her 4-H project this year.

Some of the best marked Andalusians I've produced came out of splash over black matings. I mate blue to blue as well but always do a splash over black pen.

we are planning on doing splash x balck crossings, black x blue crossings and possibly blue x blue crossings. We have to see how many hens/pullets we have to pair up.
