Blue/Brown Eggs, Easter/Christmas Eggs - Getting my craft on!!

I am proud to say a few weekends ago I sat down and read every single post! However, the ribbon adhering eludes me. I haven't even attempted it because I don't know how to start. Home economics is not my thing...Miss Prissy was trying to explain something about a slip knot and a tooth pick...I hate admitting that it went right over my head...and I reread it a few times. Nat tried her best to show us, too. I've only myself to blame. I'm going to have to get some of that super glue gel and just put it on everything and hope for the best!

I'm stuck at the same place. Anyone know the post # of how to affix the ribbon?

My daughter had a great idea. She wanted to poke the holes in the SIDES of the eggs and make like a popcorn string but with bantam eggs. Wouldn't that be cute? We don't have any bantams............but I bet some of ya'll do!

For the bead caps? I've been looking for just the right buttons for my monochromatic eggs. I wish I could find simple black or earthy bead caps. Other than JoAnn's...where can we find a selection of buttons?

Hobby Lobby and Handcock Fabrics comes to mind for buttons. I had really good luck at Hobby Lobby in their jewelry making section for bead caps. They gold, silver, black and copper. Really lovely.

You might also try hitting up junk/antique stores for old buttons. It would be hit or miss, but you never know what you might find.

I break off a piece of a toothpick (about 1/2" long) .... tie the ribbon around it. Turn it sideways, stick it down the hole. Jiggle it until it becomes sideways inside the egg. Then poke the other end of the ribbon through the bead hole.

So may ideas!!! I'm addicted and haven't even started. Been wanting to blow some for Easter for years & just haven't gotten around to it. Busy with Xmas baking right now,but blowing & saving eggs.My one little leghorn keeps me busy. One of my Polish has started squatting so maybe I'll get some from her soon. At any rate , I'll probably handpaint a few this year and go all out next year. After I finish my new coop & penthat I just started. At least I'll be able to take advantage of all the markdowns after xmas. I have read all 87 pages but will need to go back and take notes. I am subscribed. Everyone keep it up... u do beautiful work.
