OOPS!

Took some Silver Spangled Hamburgs to a 4H home yesterday. Several were not Hamburgs. Not sure what they are except they are from the U/A. It is possible they are Splash "Blue egg layers". Will have to allow them to fully feather to tell.

been skimming this thread, very interesting pictures in OP. do you have any pictures of the chicks you hatched out? any more information on these 2 breeds?
very interesting...

Does anyone know if someone that is not in 4-H will be able to get some of these from the U of A soon? I am just south and have a son that attends Fayetteville. I would love to get a hold of about 5 of these to start my own flock.

Thanks.

I just became a member so I could join this thread. I was just at the university of A last week picking up my first eggs to hatch from Dr Bramwell. I saw the blue egg layers, vut confess, I don't remember their name, but they are a beautiful bird. Dr. Bramwell simply has a passion for creating new breeds. I really enjoyed the tour of his coops. I could have passed on seeing the naked chickens however. I am anxious to see how your hatch turns out.

These are really interesting, I think they would be more of a backyard or cage free bird rather then a battery bird. If you would want to get them accepted then you would have to get better lacing on them (probably by crossing in blue andalusian) and you would have to decide on a type and get them breeding true to type.

What all breeds of eggs did you get?

What did you think about UA?

So, when are you moving to Fayettville?

We have a trio of Blue with pea combs and a single White male with a single comb. Will keep him as an emergency backup only. He is not splash, but solid white.

I got some eggs when I went down and visited the university, I have 6 hatched out so far.
