I was going to look up Walt, but after lunch on Sat. I got sick and laid in the van until we left that night......yuck. Not to mention tired because Friday night we went to dinner with some call duck friends and didn't get back to the room until 1:30 in the morning...then the baby woke up hungry.
and up again bright and early to get the birds ready for the show.
My husband did meet up with Walt after he finished with the call ducks, he did say he was a really nice guy. It was a great show as always and ran into a lot of BYC people. Bill Guardhouse dominated the SLWs but what can I say, his birds are awesome.
I don't think walt had time totalk to anyone, more less humiliate them. I managed to introduce myself between rows before he got dragged off by a clerk again. That was one busy man.
I feel privileged to have had the time with Walt that I did - he is popular!!! And great judge. I was sneaky and took pics while he was judging. He is thorough, very very thorough!
And very sweet, too nice to bug, so I didn't sing to him, and he didn't humiliate me. LOL!
The SLW's that were there were an impressive bunch together- I would have taken ANY one of them home. Overall, it was the most consistent and impressive grouping of birds.
Pictures later today - gotta catch up with everything here- but I snapped some Dark Cornish, the most beautiful white Chantecler roo, the particular JG that won my DH over, the Dels, a nice, nice NH roo, some of the SLW, the Aussi that got BB and a few other good ones. Oh, and Dominiques. There were several, and I though most were really nice.
I fell hard for call ducks and black East Indies. Oh dear. What a MESS!

I can hardly wait to see the pictures, Beth!
Ducks, Beth?
They are so messy, aren't they? Chicken poop is one thing, but poopy water ..... yuk!
I can't do ducks. Do they have to have thawed water in the winter, too?
Yes, yes, yes ..... pictures!
Ducks are definately messier than chickens, but my calls are so darn cute they make up for it. Mine have a big wading pool in the warm months, but in winter they're reduced to a couple of big feeding pans full. I have to carry all their (and the chickens) water from the utility room once it gets too cold and I can't do the hoses anymore. There's no way I can carry enough to fill the wading pool.
I was told to place info regarding our Large Fowl white faced black spanish and nankins on this forum. We raise both breeds that are very rare. We ship eggs and chicks.
Wish we were in Ohio this past weekend! Congrats to everyone who got to go exhibit, visit, buy, sell and just have a good time.
