YHFarm,
I normally use mozilla firefox as my browser. I could not post pictures with it onto this site. My 16 YO son also could not do it. I switched to safari and was able to do it. Maybe it is your browser.
Ginny

I use mozilla firefox, but I use the BYC upload feature.

This is part of the "backyard flock", (as opposed to the groups that spend their time in the orchard, or the pasture on the hill, or the back field) so that's what I got pictures of. I knew better than to call them, otherwise all the shots would be of birds at my feet looking up. (I was trying to do that stealth thing.) Here they are, hunkered down resting out of the wind.

Then I tried to get just the Ancona hen, but she had her head up her, um,well, the little Diva just would not pose.

At least, not until the cock jumped up to make a rush at a rival...then she had to watch

How cool is that? It's like a celebrity chicken! I don't own that particular book, but next time I'm in Shawnee, I'll make it a point to stop by TSC and look him up. I wonder if I could talk the manager into a discount if I tell him I kinda, sorta know who owns that bird?

Wow they are really nice looking. you can get the Storey books at Barnes and Noble and Borders.

Terry Britt *twisted feather farm) has some nice Buvv Orpingtons as does cowboygourmet (autreys friendship farm) and my daughter buffbeauty got her start from cowboygourmet.

Then I'm definitely going to have to find that book; I never have anything to compare mine with besides old lithographs so seeing some good (live) ones would be wonderful!

The best book to compare your birds to is the American Poultry Associations Standard of Perfection. There is a new one coming out in February.

Some of Roy's birds came from Superior Farms.... who acquired some of their breedings tock from Terry Britt. My Buff Orpingtons came from hatching eggs from Superior Farms, just days before Roy bought the breeders.

But Buffbeauty has about the nicest Buff Orpingtons I have seen. They are what an Orpington should be. Not giants, but good type and proper size. the color is extreemly good. Almost dread the spring shows going up against her and Roy's birds!
