Need articles and will work on this one myself ....
So what others would you like to see or help get written????

Maybe before I unplug my incubator and go to the big Poultry Show in the sky I can try to to this task........
You mentioned that the breed clubs should have these article stored on their web pages or the sectary should have all the old literature this has not been done very well over the last 30 years........
I will put together a web site my self on my web site source and let you know when I get it to the point that its worth going to.

Give me something to do in my old age.
Hi Bob,
This is what I do. I would be glad to research for you , if you wish. Am a trained bookscout with 13 yrs. experience. Eight years research work obtained me a research Acknowledgement in Gayle Kaye's stunning book, The Collie In America which won the Maxwell President's Award for best dog book in America for 2010. Love scouring the lit world for old, rare and obscure lit. Then assembling it in online "no discussion" bibliographic databases with hot links to where one can read the lit.
I have several under my belt so far. "Bookwork and Breed History" ,done in the Yahoogroups format, is devoted to canine lit, specializing in rough and smooth collies.
In the Database section of the Sussex_Breeders yahoo list ( this list is pretty much dead) http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/sussex_breeders/ is a 65 book poultry lit database which you are welcome to lift and use here as you wish. Made a modified one stressing Sussex lit at the homepage for the American Sussex Association. There is also one stressing Marans at the MOAC website.
The craft fair is finally over , our woodturnings sold well, and I have more time to surf for lit. Will get started on the breeds you mentioned and post the lnks here when I find them.
Best,
Karen

Exactly. The American Buckeye Club's Yahoo site has a Files section that has some great information. Their blog also has a pictorial guide on how to interpret the SOP with pictures of good and not-so-good birds. Kind of spoiled me, because I try to find the same kind of resources in other breed clubs and they just aren't there. I've been reading some of the old poultry books and there is a lot of information to have to skim through before finding some meat. I sure wish every breed club was dedicated to educating newbies.
Hi.
The Marans of America Club is one such Club. Very education oriented. While I was Director of Archives there, we found some interesting ways to make education fun and accessible which might work here on BYC. For instance, one of the big problems in Marans is that most all the classic lit is written in French. So we got with the French Marans Club and got permission to reprint articles from their high class Newsletter on the MOAC website. The big problem was how to make the lit accessible to the public without it being lifted and shot-gunned across the Net. The French Club was very much against sharing their copyrighted lit with the Net en-mass and I can certainly see that. So we set up a locked section of the Club website which costs members an extra 12.00 yr. to join. Subscribers are given a password to view it. In it are the translated French newsletter articles which have been locked against lifting. It's worked very well. And the French Marans Club is content the lit is safe from thieves.
Best,
Karen

Karen, you are a gem!! You are always willing to share. ANd boy do you find great old books to read. Perhaps research the Dutch wesites for information on relavent breeds as they are free with their information, or at least they are with their horse information. Many of their sites are bi-lingual already. My Dutch at this point is limited to horse terms--so I would not be of use to you there, but considering how much money they spend on the breeding aspect of horses, perhaps they have the same attitude about their chickens.
