Still workin' on my Delaware project. Some of my F3s are getting close to point of lay. What do ya think? Can I show yet?
(The one with the light legs left here today.)

Look how close that pullet looks to Schilling's rendition. I'm impressed.

a member called thedragonlady has beautiful english imports.
Thank you Bruce!

I have 11 or 12 babies 5-6 weeks old that are sired by Monty ( imported English Buff O. ) from SOP hens available now. They are out of egg laying hens with a true work ethic that were old Clevenger breeding with a touch of other breeding. These chicks look really good, and are foraging fools. I can't say at this age that they will be show quality, but they will be nice, large, typy birds that lay well. They are living outside now, with no heat here in SC, with nightly temps in the low 40s. I'll give someone a deal on the whole group as I need the room.

Anyone interested please check my page for photos.

I'm gonna be there.

Yay! I can't wait to meet you and see your amazing birds! This will be the very first bird show I have attended and I'm so excited. Hubby told me I have to leave my credit cards at home, his exact words. "Woman I think you have spent enough money of those d*** birds"... Hahaha if he only really knew! He has been a pretty good sport but I may have to work some voodoo on him prior to my leaving for the show, you just never know what you might find that you just "had to have" especially if you are bringing extra birds to sale Kathy (hint hint). Look so forward to seeing you there. Have a wonderful day.

Show those girls! What about photos of the boys Kathy?
Nooooo - I was just kidding. I am not ready to show them yet. Maybe next generation - F4s. I am gonna send some to Bill, so he can show them! Actually, I would rather breed and hatch and let others do the showing. (I really do not want to give my white chickens baths).... Maybe someday......

I am delivering some birds to a friend there, but am not showing. I haven't started that yet. I have been downsizing for over a month. I am down to ...... well, down to where it is difficult to decide who will go now. I think I would like to get down to just a dozen each of New Hampshires, Barred Rocks, and Delaware projects. Maybe........ Problem is that I started hatching late, and still have quite a few growing out. I would like to keep them longer - to see how they are gonna turn out.

Decisions - decisions.....

Well, Kathy, if you know somebody heading towards Iowa, I'd happily take some of them off your hands. :lau

Dallas Show: American class champion with a New Hampshire cockerel.

Personally, I dislike that tail and tail break. But, I am no judge.

You're right as far as that picture goes but there are some other factors. One is what else was in the class. Also he appears to be leaning forward; were he standing upright I think his tail angle might look better. It's hard enough to evaluate a bird in the minute or so the Judge has to do so, it's imposssible to accurately evaluate a bird froim a picture.
The bird is in beautiful condition & condition means a lot. A poultry show is after all a beauty contest.

I rarely get to shows in parts of the country other than the North East but there are no Delawares here that come close to those. I rarely see Delawares in this region but the few I see are sorry looking indeed. Time to start showing Kathy, you've achieved some amazing results with these & the New Hampshires.
