I would be happy to take some in the morning. My birds I have penned now are younger. I will get pics in the morning.

Jimmy had some good rose combs one female he won with was one of the best I ever saw. Keep that line pure and he had good combs on them and also, how many do you have right now. You are a source of a very rare strain of Rose Comb large fowl Reds. Bob

Unfortunately I had a fox before I got the dog that watches the birds now, so I don't have as many as I wish I had. I won't be selling any for a while, but I would like some new blood, there for I would trade a small bit just to add to the flock. I can post some photos tomorrow. From what I know of the reds, and Im quite fond of reading about them, these are ones that anyone would be happy to have. I have to admit that RIR were my least favorite of the breeds. I absolutely swore I would never own a RIR. Then one day I saw a rooster that I fell in love with and ask the lady what was that bird. When she said RIR I about fell over. That was the day I brought home allot of RIRs and they are my main stay now.

I wish you well with your Rose Comb large fowl as I thought they where the best birds in large fowl that Jimmy had and where true to breed. Crossing any other Rose Combs into them would ruin them and distroy the gene pool.

I have a web site of the chicken show that was held in Indiana two weeks ago and the pictures are great. Look for a Black Miniorca Ckl in this shot of pictures he is a killer. Also, the White Rock large fowl that won Champion large fowl is in here as well and also a very pretty Buff Orpington Female by Bill who supports this thread is here. If you want to see standard breed chickens not Hatchery stuff look at these breeds. Some of the best in the Country. The lady who has the White Rock large fow and Minorcia callled me today and I talked to her for about a half an hour. She is off to the Ill Mo show today and Saturday. She should meat up with Dough, Kathy, Bill and I hope some of you. She also has a trio of New Hampshires to sell at this show. Hope they find a good home. bob

Thank you for the kind words and support for my rabbit site. I get allot of enjoyment from learning directly from the animals, not books on caged observation.

I also had no idea what I had in my reds until I posted on this thread. Im hoping that further reading and getting to know other RIR breeders I can do this strain justice as well as promote this wonderful breed.

By the way, until I saw these beautiful birds thought the RIR was the worst example of a chicken on the planet. Now that I have seen the REAL McCoy, Im in love. Why people change things that don't need fix'en is beyond me. I hope this thread and the wonderful people here will keep from reinventing the wheel for generations to come, and help others like me get well educated.

Here are some of my RIR please keep in mind these are very young birds. They have yet to even lay an egg.

The same cockrel's head. I was trying to hold him and take the picture so he is a bit tilted.
