If you have a big enough live trap or can borrow one from you local dog pound or animal control take a rabbit and place it inside of a safety cage Like a small wire cage can make one yourself fairly cheap and easy Place the live/dead rabbit into the cage and place it in the area you know the cat has been scouting. few tips on bobcats Bobcats will only have 1 set of overlapping prints (bobcats place there back feet in the same spot they had there front feet this allows them to not break as many sticks and branches when stalking prey.) you will not see a claw print EVER on a bobcat. they retract there claws so if you see tracks in sets of 4 its not a bobcat if you see tracks with claws not a bobcat. if you see what appears to be a 2 legged predator with widely spaced pads then you got a bobcat or ML. Bobcats like to den up under tall brush and growth and in old trees and hollow logs. sometimes inhabiting a old rabbit or coyote den. They are capable of taking down smalldeer But prefer there diet of fish,rabbits, Ducks, quail, turkeys, and often chickens and other ground fowl.

Beautiful animal. I've always admired Bobcats. If one was taking my birds, though, I'd have to take it out too.

NICE shot! Beautiful cat, too. I'd probably just have the hide tanned, since I don't know what I'd do with an entire mount, LOL!
Really wish you could have found the coyote, though. I don't generally agree with leaving wounded animals loose, but then again...I'm not climbing in that den, either!

I am pretty sure the den I chose toshow was abandoned as the grass was upon it in that same area there is about 9 more holes there is no telling where he went. the good news is I will find him and his whole family soon enough Since he is wounded if not killed he will need an easy meal and my chickens - easy meal for a wounded coyote I am the only food source for miles. I wont miss a second time

Why would you want to shoot in the eye? Why not in the temple or heart region? I dont know if it would cause less bloody damage or it really doesn't matter as long the cat drops dead.
I like my .22 to shoot feral barn cats that does not belong to us. Quick and it does not take much to drop one unless it is a bad shot. I think the rifle my Dad had was a Daisy, plastic body with steel bore. He got rid of it before I asked him if I can have it. Easy for a lady to handle it. Better than my hubby's over and under rifle which I have NO experience in shooting it.

Nope, definately not 100 yards! I would miss 99 percent of the time. Besides I didnt have a good scope on the rifle to shoot cats. A .22 can hit pretty good but the noise would scare the animal before it has the chance of killing them. Maybe a silencer would help us at that time.
My best distance shot would be 80 feet away, dropped that cat without batting an eye. It was between the cow barn and hay barn which the cats goes from hayloft to hayloft. We have our favorite sitting spot, up on the hayloft door window and wait. My Dad's favorite perch and the most dangerous, sitting high above the rolled hay bales (for cattle), stacked two high and lay out on it and wait. He killed many possums and coons that way as well. I always ran into them, if I dont have a rifle, a pitchfork was the next weapon but possums are tenacious and would attack at all angles. Bloody buggers!
