Nope, definately not 100 yards! I would miss 99 percent of the time. Besides I didnt have a good scope on the rifle to shoot cats. A .22 can hit pretty good but the noise would scare the animal before it has the chance of killing them. Maybe a silencer would help us at that time.
My best distance shot would be 80 feet away, dropped that cat without batting an eye. It was between the cow barn and hay barn which the cats goes from hayloft to hayloft. We have our favorite sitting spot, up on the hayloft door window and wait. My Dad's favorite perch and the most dangerous, sitting high above the rolled hay bales (for cattle), stacked two high and lay out on it and wait. He killed many possums and coons that way as well. I always ran into them, if I dont have a rifle, a pitchfork was the next weapon but possums are tenacious and would attack at all angles. Bloody buggers!
