Hey guys :)

This is the first year we've had bobwhite quail. We have ten Jumbo Wisconsins we hatched in spring. My question is this: what kinds of fruit can they eat, and what kinds can't they eat? There's rather low amounts of info on raising bobwhites on the internet so I've turned to BYC. I know from experience they'll eat strawberries and tomatoes, and I've read citrus is bad for them. Other than that I'm at a loss. So lists would be awesome!

I'm asking cuz with winter around the corner I'm looking for ways to fatten them up for warmth. They have a chicken coop with heat lamp but never sleep in it, so I'm just looking for ways to give them some extra buff for winter. If ya know any tricks of the trade please share your wisdom :) thanks!

We use cracked corn in the cold months so they can generate more energy for warmth :) both the chickens and quail get it! It's very cheap, too.

they can eat apple. they also like raisins and other berries. I have bobwhites as well. They are hilarious. By the way, dried mealworms are really healthy and nutritious. Live crickets are their favourite treat, however.
