Aster gestured for the captain to swim out of the creature's reach but the kraken quickly reclaimed him and they both disapeared below a dark layer of water. Aster watched in horror as the end of the rope tangled around her ankle, and the creature dragged her down with it. She bent to free herself but the rope only tightened around her leg until it cut deeply into her flesh. She lunged upward in the water hoping to break the rope, but instead a loud crack erupted in the water as the opposing forces broke her leg. She tried to scream, but the sound was muffled and the last of her air stripped from her lungs. As the kraken resurfaced she felt herself pulled near the surface, but she was too weak to move herself upward.
(Imma call the kraken eaters water dragons for now.)
The captain lay on the beast's scaly leg, panting. Never again would he bring a woman aboard. They had to be bad luck. He stared out at the water dragon's long back as it surfaced. The end of the anchor's rope surfacing. A hand latched onto it. He groaned and pulled himself to his knees and crawled toward it. He grabbed her wrist in one hand, and the rope in the other and hauled her onto the creature's back.
A second dragon emerged, nudging the boat upwards. Water began to pour out.Jack gasped for breath but he could not keep his head above the water he froze up in terror
