I would say the same but then I’ve also seen several people say that IF you get the right lines and breeder AND train them properly, they have a great off switch and can chill out and don’t NEED crazy amounts of exercise. Supposedly. IDK. Obviously a lot of them can be INSANE too. 🤣😭 but just saying not ALL of them are LOL if you wanted one. 😉😜
Well....I barely have enough energy for my current low-energy dogs. I can't imagine even the calmest of Border Collies being as much of a couch potato as my dogs are.

I'd want my exact one back. I'm too scared to get one of these crazy hyper ones. Ours would run the goat fence constantly, or we were throwing the tennis ball. She liked to keep busy.

I'm a couch potato dog lover too these days.

Hmmm makes sense LOL

I would love a border collie and maybe one day will get one. But id need animals for it to herd or sports for it to do. Every dog can have an off switch, but some days that can be hard as they want to work.
Hmmm trueeeeee lol but I don’t think you necessarily need other animals or sports. Lots of people just do tons of hiking and mental stimulation, etc. lol although I would probably do sports with mine anyways just because.

Well unfortunately i cant hike a lot.
And mental stimulation only does so much. They still need a job in my opinion. They were bred to move. Maybe show lines need less exercise and stimulation though

Ohhhhh okay. That makes sense. I forgot about you not hiking, sorry. I don’t really hike anymore either but that’s just cause of transportation cause I used to hike tons. You’re right though about them needing a job. And sports etc. are great for that. But I was just saying not ALL of them need like 6 or 8 hours a day of exercise and training or however much people usually do lol also for personally, I feel like hiking counts as a job cause they’re with their person exploring and sniffing and (in their minds) claiming new territory LOL that’s tiring. Especially if you put a backpack on them and have them carry things cause then there’s the weight of the backpack tiring them out AND the mental stimulation of them knowing they’re doing a job for you (carrying something) LOL I personally have never tried the backpack thing though. But it sounded like a cool idea when I read about it LOL

I love hiking and walking, but my health really catches me somedays.
I use to hike a lot.
Yes hiking would definitely be enough they would have a job.
And i 100% agree they dont need 6 to 8 hours of exercise. You can teach a dog to need exercise. Like if you hike every day they will expect that. If you walk for 2 hours every day they will expect that and as they get older they wont realize they dont need that.
I limit how much exercise Denver and Tucker get but they are adequately exercised. I at first made the mistake with Tucker walking and playing until he was super tired that could be 3 hours. And we are down to a hour of exercise with breakfast and dinner in a enrichment toy. Daily i try to include a lick mat or Woof pupsicle. He knows the days i cant exercise him. And he is so chill. And the same with Denver but she is good with 30 minutes of running in the backyard.
So you can train a dog to need exercise and i think a lot of people with working dogs accidentally do that. A border collie might just need a hour of running(fetch agility, flirt pole) and a hour of enrichment and be good if not trained to need more.

Sorry about your health!! :hugs but yesssssss I 100% agree!!!!! Especially those last couple of sentences about training a dog to need exercise and how they might be fine with what you said. That’s what I was trying to say/get across this whole time but you said it much better lmao 🤣😭❤️
