Border Collies, Australian Shepherds, All Herding breeds, Tell Me About Yours

Well all that opens up the pointer breeds!

Not that I am biased that direction at all......ok I am. :p

Pointers are great dogs!! I’ve considered the German Shorthaired Pointer too but the separation anxiety makes me a bit nervous as well as the fact they have sooooo much energy, even more so than retrievers haha

But they seem like really nice dogs. And there is something to be said for a short coat lol

Get 2 they are small.....at 8 weeks.

They will keep each other company and wear each other out.

I know, I know. :gig Too many to pick from, too little time to try them all.

:lau this is exactly how I feel!! I want practically every breed there is!! :lau  herding breeds, sporting breeds, terriers, shepherds, giant breeds, northern breeds, even some of the little companion breeds, you name it, I want it. :lau

Those Leonbergers someone had mentioned? I LOVE them and have always wanted one haha

:lau good point!!! Plus they’re cute!!

I actually don’t think I would ever have just one dog again after seeing how much Libby and Franklin love each other and how much happier Libby is having a playmate and how much more confident Frank is from having another confident, outgoing dog in the house but I don’t think I’d get two at the same time. I think I’d raise one first then add a second one later haha

love the Springer more than the Brittany here

Springers seem like super nice dogs.

Me too. :D

Still love a good pointer or pointer mix though.

Now you guys have me wanting sporting breeds again. :lau

Every time I think I have it narrowed down, I start thinking about another breed again haha

My GSHP was the smarted dog I've ever had, wonderful, bold, stubborn, and easily convinced that the chickens are MINE!
We did obedience and the basic hunt test, my hubby hunted with him, and he lived to 13. He came from a show breeder and had lots of old relatives, always a good sign...
Yes, he was active! He did stay inside the IF.
Two dogs is a good number, IMO, just not two puppies at the same time!

They really do seem like amazing dogs. :love

And yeah I’ve read about littermate syndrome and them bonding to each other plus it’s just harder to train two puppies at once haha
