I know this may sound really odd and gross but [medical] maggots work the best... the eat the dead flesh and really clean up the wound...within days you'll see a huge improvement. I would definitely look into this as disgusting as that sounds.


Other than that suggestion... soaking his paw in epsom salt and hot water should help. I would try to stay away from peroxide since it burns and also damages some of the good flesh. Perhaps try betadine/iodine instead...

Chico is doing much better, thanks for asking.

We had him to the vet Monday morning and they cleaned and disenfected the wound, rewrapped it, gave him some injectable meds and sent him home.

Thursday the pulled the remaining stitches, and cleaned and re-wrapped.

I take him in on Monday morning for another bandage change, and hopefully that'll be the end of it.

My boy is also doing so much better. I'm hoping we're past all the serious stuff for a while.

I just now saw this thread, it's hard when you have financial trouble- it seems like everything hits at once!
