Boy, This flu is really getting bad.

My whole family got it, kids brought it home from school to share. 103 degree fevers, daughter got penumonia, I lost 17 lbs. in about 8 days.

no.... they are not downplaying they are making people paranoid... The flu vaccine is gives 40 to 60% immunity to the swine flu (H1N1) (they are still planning to make $$ on a separate vaccine). The flu vaccine is NOT indicated for children under the age of 10. The vaccine gives only 70% immunity to the seasonal flu virus. It can take up to 2 weeks to fully integrate into your system. The vaccine is preserved with Thermisol, a derivative of mercury, this heavy metal is a toxin and is NOT normal to be found in the human body in amounts over 0.025 micrograms, a very tiny amount. The flu vaccine contains 25 micrograms per dose! You should also not take the flu shot if you are allergic to eggs or latex; if you have a history of Guillainne-Barre syndrome (a neuromuscular disorder); and for of compromised immune system (Lupus, HIV,RA,etc.) This information can be found on the package insert of Flulaval box (the name of the vaccine)
....think I'll take my chances with the flu My whole family has had it before we can fight it again, last time we had it the Doctors where no help at all anyway just sent us home twice with no script.

We've been battling it here as well. DS (14) got it first, running a fever up to 104.1, then promptly gave it to me.

I didn't run as high of a temp (102.5) but we both had all the same symptoms - fever, chills, aches, headache, dry cough, etc. We're both over the fevers and other symptoms, but this cough is AWFUL!! It's so dry and no matter how much water you drink you cannot tame the thirst and dry throat. The cough is said to last for 2 - 6 weeks beyond the flu.

For those of you Nay Sayers, you may change your tune if you get this thing.

It is real and while it's not proving to be as deadly as it was when it first broke in Mexico, it is dangerous for those with compromised immune systems. I agree that most of us do NOT need to go to the hospital and most of us probably don't even have to go to the Dr. unless complications develop (son went with his 104 temp but I did not). If you develop symptoms, hunker down and stay away from people until you're completely fever-free.

In scope of the flu, I've had worse fevers and worse symptoms, but this one just lasts longer because of all the coughing. I'm wishing it was over already!

For good information on the Novel H1N1 or 2009 H1N1 (they're no longer calling it "swine flu") go to www.flu.gov or http://www.cdc.gov/flu/

I am really keeping my fingers crossed. A bit back everyone in my office but me had the H1N1. I somehow escaped it completely. I am really hoping that that much exposure has given me some kind of immunity. Each one came down with it 2 weeks after the one before them.....

Or you may just be immune. Some of the reports are stating that people over 60 or 65 aren't getting this at the frequency that they have with other strains of influenza. Two of us got it at home and two have not. I was the primary caregiver for my son when he was sick, staying up with him to try to bring that temp down, so perhaps that's why I was the "lucky" one.

BTW, not suggesting you're over 60. I've met you and know you're not.

If me or my son gets the flu, the first place we would call would be the doctor's office. My son had the regular flu last winter, and the tamiflu did wonders for him. Instead of being laid-up for a week or more, he was back to normal after a day and a half. I would never take him to the hospital though, unless it got real serious (extremely high fever, etc.).

Yes, well re-read the other thread to which you responded on this. Swine Flu = Brain Fog. It's bad. Real bad.

Really? I can blame it on that??? I am relieved.
