We've been battling it here as well. DS (14) got it first, running a fever up to 104.1, then promptly gave it to me.
I didn't run as high of a temp (102.5) but we both had all the same symptoms - fever, chills, aches, headache, dry cough, etc. We're both over the fevers and other symptoms, but this cough is AWFUL!! It's so dry and no matter how much water you drink you cannot tame the thirst and dry throat. The cough is said to last for 2 - 6 weeks beyond the flu.
For those of you Nay Sayers, you may change your tune if you get this thing.
It is real and while it's not proving to be as deadly as it was when it first broke in Mexico, it is dangerous for those with compromised immune systems. I agree that most of us do NOT need to go to the hospital and most of us probably don't even have to go to the Dr. unless complications develop (son went with his 104 temp but I did not). If you develop symptoms, hunker down and stay away from people until you're completely fever-free.
In scope of the flu, I've had worse fevers and worse symptoms, but this one just lasts longer because of all the coughing. I'm wishing it was over already!
