Brabanters and Spitzhaubens--The Differences PIC HEAVY!

Here are a few pictures of my birds...........as you can see, I have alot of work to do with crest type, and something else not mentioned, feather picking......These are neither hatchery stock nor are they confined in a small area.....this trait can be inherited and passed down through generations, not unlike with my Longtails(onagadori descendants) The problem with non-hatchery birds stems from people passing eggs around to one another, then they are breeding brother and sister together, again, passing the eggs on to the next, folks get males and females in the same clutch thinking they are lucky, breeding them together again, perpetuating the same lineage, never outcrossing. Basic inbreeding and linebreeding......The problem with these practices are too many bad traits get passed without culling and that can produce inferior stock....Fortunately there are different sources now to work with.......I have three different lines to work with, however, all three have their challenges.............I also plan to cross my Gold Spitz into the Siver line and use that different bloodline to boost the Silvers....and visa-versa......then there is the LLV problem...........................................................chrisf

When I had Spitz they never had a pecking problem (and actually my Polish never did either, it was only birds without crests that pecked), but then my birds were from a couple of different people. I felt they were one of the nicest crested birds that I had.

I am new to both the Brabanter and the Spitz, however, I have just hatched both. Actually the Spitz are due to hatch on Friday. I had no idea about the LLV. Should I be worried???

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

My gold Brabanter has goofy wings. They seem to droop. Doesn't seem to bother her, but it does me. Is this normal?
