Wouldn't it be nice if the coloring worked like what we learned as kids. White and red is pink. Blue and red is puple........

I had the same question; Various people answered "no" in this thread It's possible to have blue spangles, but not to have black spangles on a blue background: I am verklempt.

Or the neat blue with white spangling like the Chaimois pattern showing above. Genetics are not always fool proof and it does leave some weird or funky pattern thrown back on some true colored parents.

Here I am, again with a breeder question. My 4 month old Spitz pullets (with the huge Polish crests) have no sign of wattles. Shouldn't they be developing by now?

On the good side the 2 month olds have definite wattles and combs showing on three of the nine. Yeh! I want a nice roo... or two.

Still no crowing, but I've given up hope. Who wants him? (the neck is bald like my other chick because I figured out that the Sumatra stands beneath them and plucks their feathers. Just those two:confused: . I'm increasing their protein. At least I know what it is now.

It looks like one of my little Spitz chicks is developing a beard. I think I will out cross her with my Brabanter cockerel. My Brabanter pullet with the best crest and spangling has no beard, so I'm going to out cross her with my Spitz cockerel. I'll just have to figure a way to figure out whose eggs are whose next spring. Brabanter and Spitz eggs pretty much look alike, don't they?
