Ooh, nice! I hope the Brabanters get more color variety in the US at some point, too.

@ momma-hen, have you had any more luck with blue Brabanters?

To anyone who may know, how do you breed for good spangling? Some of my Gold Brabanters don't have great spangling. My rooster is a bit odd because he has really good spangling on his chest, but he has something that looks more like partial lacing in some of his back feathers. Some of the hens have weird shaped spangles or partial lacing as well, and I'm not really sure how lacing/spangling works. Can the laced hens have the chance of spangled offspring since the rooster has good spangling on his chest?

Blue, Don donated his bird to me, plus the last hatch looks like I've got 3 more! Of course, that's just the beginning. Now I have to wait until they are old enough to breed. Jeez, time can go so slowly!

The spangling on the Brabanters is supposed to be a half moon shape on the tip of the wing......and there's very few that actually look "right". My rooster has perfect spangling, and even the offspring from him and "Ms Perfect" (she is!) come out without perfect spangling. This has to go back to the breeds they were developed from, who probably had lacing.
