ohhhh well chicken poop! Guess I'll have to track down a way to get some of the laced ones. Prob should let my BF adjust to the fact that I've acquired almost 50 chickens in a month before I set out on that mission.
I am new but had to get in this forum I have 2 light standard brahmas, 1 buff and 1 dark.....after reading everyones input on dark brahmas I'm hoping mine is a pullet The one light brahma in my first link I am thinking is a roo.....it's a little fatty and the feathers are short and stubby and none on its tooshie yet....everyone else has started getting theres....anyway let me know your thoughts....they are sweeeet and adorable!!!!
Came home today to my Partridge Hen Hatching out. ALL 12 eggs are hatching. 10 Darks and 2 Partridge. My Darks have not been laying as well (They are super heavy) so all their eggs I am trying to hatch out - but my l;aying fool Partridge Girls managed to slip two eggs in the nest before I could move the broody. 100% Hatches are the best.

i love how these have such nice feathering on the legs (boots?)
Thank you, I got a request today for some updated shots of my blue laced red Brahma project birds, thought I might share them here as well. Need to decide which males to use. Have all the female seperate, put them together for a few minutes to take photos. A few of the old hens put the smackdown on these upstart cockerels.
The best colored cockerel, a bit smallish though, with some of the girls.
A few of the other cockerels in the running.
Some of the girls.
Head shot of a young cockerel still growing in some neck feathers.
Question for dan powell and big medicine: please tell me you started with blue hens and a gold rooster??? I plan on trying for the same colouring, please please give me some advice as I am a genetics dummy, if you can keep it simple I would appreciate it!
