My huge Dark Brahma hen has eight chicks.
Quite the most dedicated mum I have ever seen, carefully breaking bits for her tiny chicks and treating them with great care.
She hatched three herself and the other five came from the incubator. Being the girl she is, I was able to bring the other five chicks down in broad daylight, place them in front of her and wait only a few seconds whilst she raised her copious body to accommodate the other chicks which were immediately 'hers'
Brahmas are great broodies and mums.
