My huge Dark Brahma hen has eight chicks.
Quite the most dedicated mum I have ever seen, carefully breaking bits for her tiny chicks and treating them with great care.
She hatched three herself and the other five came from the incubator. Being the girl she is, I was able to bring the other five chicks down in broad daylight, place them in front of her and wait only a few seconds whilst she raised her copious body to accommodate the other chicks which were immediately 'hers'
Brahmas are great broodies and mums.

Congratulation on the great hatch, pgpoultry... and what beautiful Brahmas wing it

I don't know what hatchery they came from I just bought them from a fellow who wanted to down size his flock, thats how I got all my Brahmas except the hen in the picture.

I have fallen in love with the dark Brahmas this year. I usually have the buff Brahmas but now am wanting the darks, too. I think they will look great out free ranging with my others on the farm.

That hen and chicks is absolutely wonderful looking. She looks so dedicated and watchful over her babies.

PGPoultry That is the most beautiful Brahma, thanks for sharing those pics with us that just brightend my morning, such a proud momma! I have two light girls in my flock and they are some sweet girls, I know they would be well rounded if I could get them some chicks. What type of pattern or mix is your big girl? Thanks again for sharing!
