Tim are you going to take those to Crossroads? I hear that Chad is selling whats left there, and might want a nice cock for breeding. As always i am very impressed with the birds you have. You have done some good work.

Zach, i don't know if i'll take these particular birds to Crossroads or not. I hatched 75 lights, I hope to show 10 or 15 lights there. Just whichever ones are most "Prime" at the end of October. Chad is selling ALL his bantams. He is going to concentrate on large lights. I'll have a few birds for sale at Crossroads, Chad and I are riding together. Hope to see you there.

Small world! Do you have Brahmas too then? I don't post here too terribly often. Sometimes theres a serious conversation here, usually not so much. I have started the Cod Liver Oil once a week for my Brahmas, per Anthony's advice. I mix it with a little scratch, they gobble it up. I will just do it once a week, saturdays. I read somewhere, too much CLO is bad for them. I also got some of the equine sheen spray. I'll use it once a week also. It is SO DRY and hot here, both of those measures should benifit the Cornish and Brahmas, thats all i have. Good to see you here!

I'm supposed to go down to a breeder in MD, he said I could pick out a couple of his birds - but the summer's been crazy. I really like the LF - you can really get your arms around them. A friend of mine had a 17lb rooster! The only thing I have in bantam right now is the Faverolles and the cornish, which are now up for grabs on the NJ thread, since I can't show them. I'd like to eventually have LF in those, as well.

I currently have 3 LF Light Brahma hens and 2 EE hens, I would like to hatch a few eggs, and the Brahma seems like the way I would like to go. Now I know that hatching will most likely result in a mix of hens and roos, and that is part of the reason I want to hatch. To add a few more hens to the flock, and a rooster to help repopulate the flock as needed.

The reputation of the breed as being gentle and calm is important. Do the roosters tend to follow the trend and remain a more "calm" rooster? Or is jut luck of the draw and they are what they are. I expect to have to cull a few roosters if I should somehow end up some what succesful in hatching eggs, and behavior I'm sure is an important part of the selection process.

We are zoned farm and having livestock is not an issue(having a roo screaching all day is still something I would like to aviod), I just want to try and avoid aggressive behavior issues and the like as much as I can, and I figure starting with a breed with a rep for being relaxed is a good start.

The Brahmas I have now are little dolls, so I figure a few more can only be good.

WOW nice photo Dan- The beautiful buff-laced Brahmas made the cover of Backyard Poultry - congrats!! Can't wait to have a quiet minute to read the article...again CONGRATS
