The Champagne pullet -
th.gif

I'm really, really not one of those huge Lavender fans but that is a beautiful color! Not only is the Lavender pretty nice to look at, but the big thing is how it affects the golden color and turns it to a beautiful almost peachy champagne color. I thought it would turn it a lighter yellow.

I would like to ask for feedback, from some of my fellow brahma fanciers.... on some bantam buffs, I purchased last night.
I know little about bantam brahmas, but thought these birds were very beautiful.
Please, give me your honest opinion. I purchased 4 buff hens, and a roo.
Not the best pics, as these pictures were taken of the birds, in the transport cages. I will take better pics, once the birds are out of quarantine.

I also purchased a young trio, of dark bantams, and an extra buff pullet.

I also purchased a quad, of Bantam Wheaten Ameraucanas.

Quick question! It's been 21 weeks and my pullet Brahmas haven't started laying yet! I'm going completely nuts. Is this normal for Brahmas to be "Late Bloomers" so to say?

I like the closest buff female(s) in the 3rd and fourth photos. I like her color and topline. She seems to have a nice well spread open tail. The heads on the females look a little narrow. That could just be the angle of the photo or the age of the females. The male looks like a pretty good breeder bird. I lik his tail angle. He looks to have a little age on him, so fertility might be an issue. He also has a pretty badly twisted hackle. I like the head on the young buff pullet with the darks. I can't tell much about the darks. Over-all it looks like you have a pretty good breeding pen of buff bantams. They look like Neff birds to me, especially a couple of the females.

for some I bred to start, but I know it is soon since I've seen the roos mount her. (She was hatched in December.)

Brahmas outside the hatchery genepool, yes, are late bloomers. My Blue Partridge is on week 23 and I'm not getting impatient until I hit week 28 or so.

As for hatchery-based, my three Light Brahmas began laying when everyone else did.

- I'm no good judge on bantams, but I'd say those buffs look very nice.
