Thank you. I've been hoping for years to get these varieties.

I just started incubating all my shipped Brahma eggs. I hoped they all turn out ok.
Hey there, new to brahmas and I have a few questions that I hope could get answered on this forum. I got 11 brahmas on an online auction. When they arrived one was dead. over the next few days two more died. then over the next few days two more died. Just today I had another one die. They were almost all pasty butts for many days and I had to clean them daily to 2x/day. finally over the last few days only 1 or 2 of them would have the pasty butts. I have probably 60 other chicks in the same conditions as these brahmas. Not one of them has died or had issues with pasty butt. I kept the brahmas separate because they haven't been vaccinated for Mareks while the rest of the chicks had, even though I've read it wouldn't matter. Cleaned my brooder about before putting them in. Have watched them closely to regulate the heat lamp. I just can't figure out why they are dying. I suspect these are some of the first eggs this sellers brahmas are laying. I have another friend who got brahmas from a different breeder (also from young layers) who had the same result as me. Does anyone have any insight?
Second, I was told by a local breeder that I should feed the brahma chicks game starter as they are such a big bird. Is that a common belief? could that have influenced their early demise?
The seller has not been very responsive to my messages so I did send a more pointed message just to ask if he was having any trouble with his chicks or if anyone he sold to was having trouble. I'm just trying to figure it out. but, when I have only lost 2 chicks out of the last 100 that I hatched or bought, it seems very odd to me to lose 5 in a matter of a week.
Thanks for any input!
