This is a hen by Eric Moore at the 2009 Brahma National at Shawnee, Oklahoma. Look at the head!

This is a cockerel(thats right, a cockerel!) by Spence/Williams at the 2009 ABC national. Just a couple of examples of excellent heads. Or to use a phrase coined by Chad and Greg "STUPID headed".

Well, I just assessed my brahma hens and they sre hatchery quality and no more. Bummer. The largest one only weighed 7.5, 2 lbs. Under standard. 3 of them weigh about 6 lbs. Too small for large fowl andtoo big for bantam. Oh well. They'll just become part of our egg layers. I wont be investing in a rooster for them. Id rather start with good quality stock if Im going to breed them, and it would take YEARS to increase their size and mass.

A wide head is a hallmark of proper Brahma type. These two birds are examples of heads to work toward.
