Looking for someone who breeds brahmas in Ottawa, Ontario (or anywhere in Canada) and would be willing to send me 2-3 pullets (5 months old+) in the mail?

Not really a "sprig" Don. I do , however, battle badly formed/oversized combs on my lights. It comes from the females I'm told. It is just more obvious on the males. I have paid more attention to using females with smaller/better formed combs in this years breeding pens. We will see how it works out. Possibly a deep shade component as well? I keep my males in pretty deep shade to prevent brassines. I have been told by some( Neil Grassbaugh among them) that deep shade can cause excess comb growth. I will try and adjust that as well when it comes to conditioning time.

Hi Tim, I believe in using a female with nice shape comb and we must also use a good comb male if we want good combs on the offspring.

I believe the large combs are genetic related and can be improved by not using them for breeding males. I never had a problem with Bantam combs but the large fowl were a different story.

If I have to do that anybody order any Light Brahmas from anybody?? And how was the size. Would be nice but don't really need show birds. But I do want the size there are suppose to be.

Any help would be wonderful. So confused about all these hatchery's. I'm not new to chickens. Have a flock of reds. Wanting to start a new flock of Light Brahmas. Thanks again.
