So, if I'm reading correctly, a partridge can only win a BV (Best of variety) and is not eligible for anything higher. Am I seeing that correctly? No one has answered whether the colors other than those currently recognized are being considered for recognition. Does anyone know? I'm really just curious.....I'm pretty committed to trying to make the best partridge Brahmas that I can make, it would be nice to know if they are just doomed to never being recognized. They are so pretty, although I love the other colors as well. I just don't have room to add more colors.
Dang! I bet that's the seller I've been watching on Ebay with the Blue Partridge, I think he's the only one. I'm so glad I saw your post. Jeez, I've come so so close to spending the money when I really shouldn't. I can't believe he would do that :-(I'm bummed. I purchased blue partridge eggs on eBay in order to add to my genetics pool. I paid nearly $100 for them! Well, none developed. I contacted the seller who said he would send replacements. He said he put a new rooster in with the hens, so he obviously knew he had fertility problems. He made promises until the 45 days were up that I could open a claim on eBay, and now I have no eggs and no money. When I go back and look at his feedback, I see I'm not the only one with this problem. Darn, darn, darn!
I also purchased chicks from another seller, not on eBay. I purchased 8, received 9, and 3 died. The remaining 6 are all boys. Just my luck!
So much for diversifying my gene pool.
The seller from SOUTH Carolina is NOT the one I'm talking about. He/She sells 6 eggs, sent 8, 7 hatched and are beautiful!Dang! Not sure where you are at in Oklahoma. There is a big show in Shawnee Dec 14th at the Heart of Oklahoma Expo Center. Should be a good showing of Brahmas in large and bantam. There are usually lots of birds for sale. You could at least meet breeders and see what they have to offer.
Tim
