i think we can all understand where you're coming from, some people are just in it for the money and if you have a name for nice stock, then they want to cash in on it. i raise hookbills and i have been known to turn a person down if when they come to see the bird, if i think they won't treat it right, don't care how far they had to drive. i love my birds.as i'm sure you do too.

Thanks Fred, and my public apology for getting out of line. My desire is to promote Brahmas, sometimes I get a bit over zealous. I would encourage folks to do research on the breed. Join the ABC, buy a standard, go to APA/ABA sanctioned shows, meet breeders. I think there is a feeling that exhibition people are rude/arrogant and won't share their birds with backyard folks. I am sorry if I have contributed to that feeling. I have sold eggs here before. Most folks have done very well with them. My problem has been when some buy them, they immediatly sell them as "Tim Lindenborn" line birds. No culling at all. Some raise them to adulthood in horrendous living conditions, the birds become lice/mite infected/wormy....whatever. They take these birds and sell them.....you guessed it, as "Tim Lindenborn" line birds. To maintain quality in any line RUTHLESS culling is required. birds are sold as "such and such" line with no culling whatsoever. EVERY bird hatched is sold under the banner of whatever line and after VERY few generations there is no semblance to the original line. That is where i am coming from and that is my point of view. I breed and exhibit Bantam Brahmas in Light and Buff. I am pretty OCD about it.

It has been pointed out to me, rightly so, there is a vast diversity of interst/knowledge on this thread. I am sorry if I come across as mean-spirited or rude.

I am good as stated in the PM's, I respect you for all the time and money AND TONS AND TONS of knowledge you have and would hate to loose you on any thread! Remember when I said, " easy Tim? " Most dont understand the show world, and I certainly dont understand too much, but you can only better the brahma world you hold so dear by helping others, not discouraging and remember this BYC forum is filled with wonderful fresh 4H'ers and you can make a difference in someones life just by posting. We had good conversation in Pms would love to continue here. Thank you for the appology as well.

On a lighter note, I had the most delicious roast Cockerel, Silver Laced Brahma last night, and people say Brahmas are not good meat birds. The guy was 5 months old and 6 lb dressed.

Nice.. That's weird I was just thinking earlier" I wonder what a Brahma would look like all dressed out".... Now I don't have to Google it.
That is what I plan on doing with my cull Cockerals. We can't have to many roosters in the flock.
Would you say he was on the heavy side when he alive and kicking? I would of thought it would of had longer drumsticks.

WOW, you have an impressive variety of birds! I have never heard of some of those breeds
