Not on feathering so much, but if you post some pics I might be able to help you out. I successfully sexed all of mine at 5 1/2 weeks old.

Yes, yes vortec...it's tomorrow. I just got home from the grocery store and I'm cooling off. The chickens are eating their yogurt. I'll go take pics in a few minutes.

Great looking birds! How do you improve each generation? I am interested as this might become a hobby to breed brahmas as they are quickly becoming one of my favorite breeds

Great pics! Hope to get many many more.

Okay, get ready for brahma overload! It's very windy today, so excuse them if they look at bit ruffled

Thor, opening his big mouth to warn the girls I was armed with a camera:

Chloe, as you can probably tell from the missing feathers on her back she's one of Thor's favorites:

Lilith, my mismatched brahma and my problem child:

Maggie, another one of Thor's favorites:

Lil' Bit, my half blind runt chicken. She's never had but the one tail feather.

My Thor again:

Edited because I just realized I spelled one of my girls name wrong. Shame on me!

Love the pics, expecially the one of Thor. I have never seen the dark brahma as an adult roo, but they are georguous! I like the buffs as well.

dash it all! I bought Brahmas from the feed store. Love them to death.

Sweetest birds ever, but they were labeled as buff (which is what I wanted), and I THINK they are going to be white instead.

too bad I'm in love with them for their sweet chickenalities. I'm a first time chicken owner, and there is no way I will be able to give away these babies just because they weren't the color I wanted. Brahmas are just too sweet!

My Barney has been rehomed. Luckily he isn't going to get eaten! He got a nice pet home with a few new hens! yay!

Anyway. I am looking for more feathering on the feet, and whiter. So I just keep the biggest, whitest, fluffish chicks out of each batch. And hopefully after a while mine will improve. I had a good start going, but unfortunetly a racoon got in and killed my entire flock last year except 3 pullets, and 2 roos. So I had to start quite over.

Talk about your foot feathering, this is a couple of my darks at 5 weeks old:

My brahma flock is a little over a year old and none of mine do it. I've had two chickens break a foot feather off. The bleeding was minimal and they never seemed to mind.
