I actually have two blues, Gadget and Gizmo. I'll try to take some more pictures of them today. We were out of town over the weekend and I just let them out to free range, so they're all running around like chickens with their heads cut off!

OK - I took lots of pictures. It's overcast so the green sheen is not as evident as it is in the sun.

I can't get any more from the same breeder, so I'm not sure what I'm going to do with Buttercup. I have plenty of time, though, they're still babies. The boys do have vulture hocks, which I understand is a big no-no, but I think they are beautiful!

This is Gadget showing his colors.

so you guy's some help plealse , so i am thinking for my since fair , next year , this sring i am thinkin a bout croosing a blue rosecomb hen to a light brahma roo. i am aming for the colour like the light brahma , but with the blue replacing the black , would this work ? Also would the blue init breed like any blue 25,50 , 25 thanks

our would it be best to use a splash roo over light hen , would it matter if it was a splash or a blue. I was also thinking about trying this with lavender , what do you guys think

either way you do it, it would take several generations to get what you are wanting, the first generation should be solid black or blue, depending on which color you use to begin with.

I also don't think you should use a rose comb bird in the project. I just put a post up yesterday asking about the combs and they said

pea comb X rose comb = walnut comb (like silkies)
pea comb X single comb = pea comb

That was assuming the breeder birds are true to their comb types.

Maybe you should use a B/S cochin.

And are these bantams that you are trying to make?

yes batams , the only thing is i can not find cochin's around my area , we are very limted to Blue bantams of any breed around here. but if i crossed the F1's one wich would have walnut combs back to light brahma's would i then be able to fet the pea comb back to the brids in F2 or F3 ? and would this be ture if i used self blue OEGB ?

Sorry, but I'm not familiar with the comb genetics myself, I just told you what the one who responded to my post told me.

With the self blue OEG X light Brahma should give solid black (split lav) F1s, they would need to be crossed with each other or you will lose the lav. gene, resulting in what should be lavender diluted Columbian colored bird and then work from there to improve type.
