Brahma Thread

i'm thinking of expanding my flock by adding some LF dark brahmas. does anyone have a recommendation for a hatchery that can send sexed pullets? or, maybe someone in the local vacinity of NH/Maine/Mass that specializes in them?

I know an excellent breeder if you are willing to drive up north a bit to Canada... he's about 1 hour north of the border in quebec.

I have two LF dark brahma girls (9 weeks and 12 weeks) from his champion stock, they are gorgeous, healthy, and of show quality - can't wait to get some more!

Let me know if you want his contact info

that would probably be at least 4 hours one way for me to get that far north. if only i could interest my dh into a trip and make a little side trip along the way

It's so beautiful around here in the summertime, maybe you can make that visit someday!

I'll try to get a photo of the girls soon, when my GOOD camera is back from the repair shop...

Are LF dark brahmas popular?

Seems like there are more light brahmas around?

i did find a few hatcheries that had them hidden in their listings, but only when i specifically searched for 'dark' brahmas. Cackle did not have them listed in their pages but when i did a specific search i noticed they had a page for them. i think it may have been an old one though and they may not carry them anymore. (that's where i got my light brahmas last spring)

Xtreme Gamebirds and Mt Healthy have them listed and it looks like i can get pullets but i wasn't sure if anyone has ordered from them before for any breeds.

i just like the pretty hens with their penciled feathers, the roos are beautiful too but i don't want to put my dh through any more roos being kept if i can help it.

(and those are BIIIIG roos!)

HI guys--sorry to intrude on the thread but I posted a WTB thread for standard size buff brahmas? Anyone sell the fertile hatching eggs-Id rather buy here than ebay or eggbid:) Im looking for 6-12

Thank you,

I have a couple Buff Brahmas but they aren't laying yet and I don't have a BB roo. They are in with a GLW roo.
I also have what was supposed to be a Bantam Buff Brahma but I have think it is a Buff Cochin or mixed in with 2 Bantam BB's, they aren't laying yet either. Sorry I don't know of anyone who breeds them.

i have a bantam buff brahma i got earlier this year from one of the swaps over in Milford, NH. i was told she was a millie fleur d'uccle chick (or should have been). guess he didn't know what he had for bantams or he thought i grabbed one and thought it was that-he had a lot of chicks with him that day. if i see him next year i may see about getting a few more from him.

i'd love to find some of the other brahma colors in the LF just to keep them for the egg production, i may have to go to one of the shows in Mass when my dh has a job again and see about some nice show quality birds to work with.
