I have young partridge roos. I think they are beautiful but they're not show quality (vulture hocks). I also have a partridge hen. She hasn't started laying yet, but I'm hoping it won't be much longer. These pictures do not do them justice. They are getting huge and absolutely beautiful.

I have LF Light Brahmas 1 Roo & 4 hens.
My Roo is doing his job, alot of bare backed hens. As I have a mixed LF Flock, Light Brahmas, Barred Rocks, Black Sex Link, New Hampshire Red, for now I will not be selling hatching eggs.
The weather here is below zero (-27F right now). I don't think shipped eggs would survive the cold. I will be setting some in the incubator on Jan 4th, to test fertility and start adding to my flock. Then I should have new laying stock by June-July from my hatched chicks.

I will probably pick up a few more (10+) LF LB pullets in April from a breeder near here; after quarantine (6+ weeks) then all the Light Brahmas will be moved to a new coop/run, for breeding purposes.

I will be building new coops/runs for different breeding programs I wish to try.
any thoughts or suggestions?

ETA: this is my Roo and 1 of his Ladies

I will be getting black Brahma bantams delivered to me next week

More recent pictures of my Partridge Brahma boys - The color is amazing, even though they are not show quality. They won't stand still long enough for me to get a really good picture.

The fault they do have, can easily be fixed with good breeding. Another partridge of good quality would do that for you and as for your Lemon...a good buff will also fix problems and provide you with a pretty nice color. More info on ABC

Is the Partridge color in Brahma's different than the Partridge color in say a Rock or Wyandotte?
The reason I ask is that they look orange (in the hackles and saddle feathers) and not darker red like the typical Partridge color, or is that because there still a color in the making in the Brahma's?

A few pics of Paloma, my LF dark brahma... she is just over 3 months old and growing nicely. I will be showing her in a few months, her breeder says she will do well so we'll see...

(you can also see Princess, her 2 month-old sister, in some of the pics - she will also be shown)

Apologies for the crappy photos with blinding flash, my real camera is still in the shop
