Light Brahma chicks range from almost all white to smokey grey with black. Completely black is not normal. That may explain the excess black as a 4 month old.

That was 1 of the reasons I thought she was a black Cochin chick when I got her. Then all the white feathers came in, then I was like what the heck I got here

They are now 5 weeks and better feathered, although the victim of feather pecking is still very bare. Will post up more pics tomorrow.

I was surprised to see it already has mottling. Even though.... Well genetics say it shouldn't. It might loose them when it molts. Either way. I know they are hiding in there.

Type is looking great too. How exciting. I've got like 20 more eggs in the bator cooking.

what do you guys think? they're quite large compared to the rest of the flock

Cheryl Fowl Visions here in FLorida is raising dark standards. I got mine from her and they are beautiful DOnt know if anyone closer to you has them Caroles are show quality.

I believe his name is John, he has some nice largefowl Dark Brahmas. He used to sell on eggbid before it shut down. I can forward his email to me with photos to you if you'd like?
