OK.. so.. my 3 week old light babies.. any black in the saddle area means boy? How old are they when I can notice this difference? I did notice a huge difference in feathering speed in several of them. Let me know if there are certain picture angles that would help with determining the sex of the Lt Brahma's.

My experience is with show quality bantam Lights and Buffs only. I am almost certain this would not help with hatchery large or bantam lights.

Ok these are LF lt brahmss from a reputable breeder who does show (not positive about showing lts but darks for sure)

If you got them from Carole she would be the one to ask, I'm not familiar with her line. BTW, I bought some large dark eggs from her, and have eight very nice young birds growing. She is very reputable!(is that who you are talking about?)

Yes I think so. Carole of Fowl Visions. Great hatch rate and HUGE eggs and babies. They are so fun! I can't wait to get some dark. I have one little runt dark she threw in for me that shouldn't have made it. I helped him hatch and he nearly died. Dripped Sav a Chic on the beak for a few days. He's up and running around with the others but still much smaller then others. Cute as can be

Carole got her show bird(s) from Susan Nicolas, the same place me, and Sugar Sand and a few others got LF Darks from. Susan and Carole both are AWESOME to deal with and so willing to share their knowledge. I drove 4 hours one way to buy a Roo from Carole and I loved him, but sadly he was taken by a Coyote right after I filled out his first show entry. I didn't buy any other "show" birds from Carole - mainly dark hens for laying or prospects that didnt turn out for one reason or another, but I would deal with either ladies any day of the week. Good people.

This was the Roo I purchased from Carole - wish I had him now. He could have used a little more darker undercolor and a little heavier brow, but he was BIG.

I am not currently interested in showing or breeding.. just having some beautiful birds in my yard to lay big eggs

Hey, I noticed today that as my Lt. Brahma's tail feathers are coming in there are two different "styles". Some birds have a sort of inverted V shaped tail feather bunch and then the others just curve down toward the ground. Is this a gender difference possibly at 3 weeks old OR just a difference in the growth?

I hate to keep asking but I haven't heard yet what I should be looking for for those first signs of hen/roo..

Does anyone have Danny Williamson's E-mail address? I know he breeds SQ Dark Brahmas and would like to contact him about stock...

Thanks!

Matt
