I don't think there is a variety/pattern called "Gold Partridge" in the Bantam Standard or SOP, only Partridge. I need to look to confirm that though. The Large Darks(and bantam) could use a lot of improvement. It would be nice if a lot of this "latest fad"enthusiasm were directed toward recognized varieties. Type is paramount to the breed, otherwise you just have a "pretty" chicken. I think Gary is one of the few "Brahma enthusiast" that posts here that is actually a member of the breed club. I often wonder how many of the "experts" that post here own a Standard, are members of the APA or ABA, or a member of the American Brahma Club?? Sometimes its better to do research than trust the "experts" here. I have seen tons of garbage perpetuated here, and people just gobble it up. Gary is a good man and WAY more patient than I am.

The imported birds came in both blue gold partridge and gold partridge. The difference here is that where a normal partridge is mahogany colored with pencilling, the gold partridge are just that, a diluted gold colored bird with pencilling. In Europe they prefer the lighter partridge so that is what they breed for. So to summarize, gold partridge is not in the standard
