I got a very interesting email from a very knowledgeable source of the Heritage Breeds. The email has some promising leads.
"All this information can be found but your going to have to find the old publication of the 1940’s and 50’s. There was a publication call National Poultry Digest that gave out this information every month that your asking about. These would have been based on the genetics being used of these breeds at the time. Most of the genetics being sold today from hatcheries would be different. Most of the birds now our more eggs producers and not the real old type dual purposes breeds of the past. Leslie E. Card wrote a good book called Poultry Production 6th Edition 1952 that would share a lot about the information you are looking for. It was written for High School students. Let me know if I can help you more. "
Try as I might I could not find a 6th edition; I found a 7th edition copy of the Poultry Production Text...this 7th Edition book was not easy to find.
The National Poultry Digest document has a been a bit more challenging...if anyone finds a link...if there is an archive or PDF of this, a link would be much apprecaited.
