BREEDING FOR PRODUCTION...EGGS AND OR MEAT.

Im seeing a big difference in growth rates, feathering, and body shape in the breeds Ive purchased. Now is this typical of hatchery stock,or is it the natural to the breeds I've selected? White rocks, white giants, and dark Cornish

You will find variety among breeds. Also among strains of breeds. In individual lines. Of course among individuals.

The Rocks should be first, and then the Giants and Cornish.

ETA: I should have added that growth rate, feathering, and sexual maturity are not all one and the same.

The one dark cornish Male that jumps out me reminds me of the prints Ive seen. His body carriage, the arch to his neck,he just stands out.

Cornish have changed a lot over the years. What is considered a good Cornish today is a much different animal than one of 75 years ago. They have lost much of their athleticism.

ETA: Hatchery Cornish tend to retain their athleticism. They are not usually bred to the extremes the others are.

Going to tweak my breeding program with regard to what breeds I use in the future.

This will not likely affect what my kids do with their program but I have decided to NOT use the Buckeyes anymore, at least for the foreseeable future.

How come Hellbender?

Simply to streamline my capon breeding program. I'm going to let my family have them for their program. I will have a fine core of birds with the NNs, Chanteclers and of course what I consider the obligatory Dark Cornish.

They will have to take care of them too...
