Breeding for Sex links

I have also heard that the rose comb is dominant, but Cinnamon Queens are supposed to be from a Red roo X SLW and I believe they are single combed. I will also be doing this cross using a RIR and Buff Orp roo this spring and I will keep you all posted with my results.

Yes, theoretically that should work, should give you black pullets(maybe a reddish face) and silver/barred roos.

Thank-you for your reply.

Like Igor, though he's not a sex link:

His mother was a brassy back OEGB who went visiting the neighbors on the other side of my woods. She came back and laid an egg that we collected for our broody hen. We were not expecting Igor. He's smaller than a Barred Rock, but bred to our Australorp x EE hen has made a son who is bigger than he is.

The neighbors through the woods aren't real friendly so I'm not that wild about ever knocking on their door and asking what kind of rooster they used to have. I know he was barred though.

Yep, those in the link weren't sexlinks either, Igor's father would of had to be Barred, most likely a Barred Rock. And yes he is also Barred with leakage.

And you all are welcome, glad I can help.

Here are some pics of those Buff Orp roo X BR hen sexlinks at day old

I told you all that the Barred gene in itself is sexlinked making pure Barred chicks easy to sex at day olds. Here are some of my BRs

Pullets, usually have solid backs and a smaller headspot and darker legs

Roos , have a smoky back with larger headstop and lighter legs

Hope this helps too.

Pardon the unusual merger. I don't have a two headed Barred Rock. These are two of the Barred Rock x Easter Eggers I hatched this summer. (Not sexlinks.)

Another one with the Barred Rock x Easter Eggers. (Ignore Gonzo. He's been rolling playing in mud again.)

LOL, ignore Gonzo. Not a chance! Love his name too.

Thanks for posting a pic. Very pretty. Looks like the tail and comb of the EE with coloring of the BR. I wonder what color eggs they will lay? Blue or brown, or somewhere in between?
