Oh no .... I didn't mean to make you cry! I'm so sorry!

If it is any consolation, I love my Silkies! Just can't do the naked neck thing .... It gives me the heeby geebies !

I have to say those mutant cornish x just freak me out. Everytime I see them at the fair I don't want to eat chicken for a year, they're like the 'before' on Jared the subway guy.

Turkens freak me out too... just obscene looking. I love the white showgirls though!

I don't really care for any sex-link type egg laying machines either, nothing to do with looks or personality. Just not my cup of tea. As for silkies, I can't wait to eat my rooster, he's so butt ugly, used to see them for sale in the asian market. I just want to see one crispy and basted out of the oven. mmmm!

I guess the only chicken I would honestly say that I hate would be any one that is aggressive towards my kids, or me. I don't care what it looks like, really I don't. I figure that I'm not a supermodel, so why should I expect my pets to be supermodels. I do love the quirky ones though. Just my opinion. I lucked out with the birds that I have right now! I do have a really mixed flock, and love it!

I'm just waiting for the code enforcement officer to come out and say "Hey, you can't have chickens, wait, what are those?"

There was a time when I could have made a list, but since there are so many breeds that I have no experience with I can only add one that I have a problem with.

Ancona - The one I have eats like a pig, is mean, is EXTREMELY flighty and she only gives me 1 or 2 medium sized eggs each week.

Anyone want to buy a year old Ancona, hatch date: 3/20/09

My first group of Barred Rock girls were SHE DEVIL'S!

I got rid of the lot and then a patient of mine gave me a Barred Rock to raise. I LOVE HER. If I hadn't already promised her to someone, I'd keep her and breed her for pullet offspring.

Better stock up on the Silkies, Frizzles, Showgirls, Turkens......what am I missing here? Oh! I know! Cross a Turken with a JG....that ought to to it.

Don't forget to invite him in, and walk right past the lovely green/blue eggs from your EEs!

Hmm...am I overdoing it? I think I am.

Not really, the only thing I don't have is a JG! That's a great idea!

Whole lot of hating going on here.

I think you should reconsider the utility of Silkies. (I used to think they were useless too.) They aren't layers, but these birds were developed for meat. As a result, they will go broody and hatch chicks year round whenever you want with no incubator, no electricity, and no fuss. They will also brood just about any chick any time. Also without electricity!! Not to mention keeping them contained is super, super easy and they are all friendly all the time. Very kid friendly.

(I have yet to recognize the utility of a naked necked bird, but I won't say I hate them.)

This! The puppy dogs of the chicken world are Turkens. I have 3 turken girls that are DOLLS! Fluffy, gentle, and the best layers. They follow me everywhere and are the first ones to settle down at my feet and nod off for a quick nap. LOVE them!

Oh and they were bred for having fewer feathers so they would be easier to clean during processing

As for what I don't like?.....any of the "evil" looking game breeds such as Asil, Shamo, etc...something about a chicken that walks nearly upright and gives you the evil staredown doesn't sit right with me

Then again I've never had one, so who knows.

Gosh those are my favorite. Such a "bird of prey" look to them, and so much power in that body!! They're gorgeous imo.
