Breeds that you absolutely HATE

I've never really liked Rhode Island Reds. I don't know exactly why.

I don't really hate anything, but I can pretty much guarantee I won't own:
birds with a crest
loose feathered (like a Cochin)
feathered feet
silkie, frizzle, sizzle ect.

I like a sleek tight feathered bird, about as loose as I'd go is the Doms. I'm not really attracted to bantams, the exception being Modern Game Bantams. Mini ninjas, I love their personality.

My theory on silkies and other similar breeds being so sweet is that they have to be. They can't really fly, some can't really see--they really just don't have a choice but to suck up.

I agree with A.T. Hagan about the crested birds, showgirls and turkens. My kids really want some silkies as long as they aren't showgirls a couple would be ok. I don't really hate any of them it's just the naked neck and the crested ones are a little freaky looking.

I haven't "owned them all"....so I could say I hated any one breed, but I do not like the LOOKS of

La Fleche - don't think I could stand the "chicken version" of Satan himself looking at me every day
Naked necks - for some reason the bare skin just doesn't do it for me

I guess the good thing is that God made so many different ones that we can all find something to LOVE. That's why there's "chocolate and vanilla"......

I had to laugh at this post since I have most of what everyone "hates"

I love my RIR. They are awesome with the kids and actually enjoy getting carried around and petted.

And my bantam coop.....Red Frizzle and Barred Rock.

Even better....my incubator has Polish, Sizzles and Seabright in it right now!

I have to say, I love them all. Even the turkens and showgirls.

I'm new to this but I have to say I have a morbid fascination with turkens and La Fleche chickens. I keep going back to look at pictures of them.

Frizzles are just to weird.

Oh I hate Jungle Fowl in standard or bantam

Saipan and Malay types are the weirdest chickens I've ever seen.

I like Sebrights, just hate the roosters crowing

I HATE Polish!!! Have you ever had a Polish kick shavings from it's cage into your MOUTH when you were just looking at it at the fair or a Poultry show with poop on it?

I must've thrown up at least 3 times.

Cornish looks like a dinosaur to me.

I could probably be convinced to try any breed, but I really like "working" chickens. I don't want a chicken that I have to beg for eggs from.

And when I butcher one, I want it to have been worth my time to do it (I hate butchering!). So while I have a few Modern Game Bantams around because they are so cute, I really like a standard size bird.
