Bring your "Howdy's" here!

It is nice to have somewhere to talk and get away from the "real" world and work. I am having issues at work and just trying to work through how to handle them. Long story and don't want to bore with something that is hard to understand. I am just thankful I can come to this thread and relax.

Did I miss anything good??

Sorry your having a bad day Michelle

Yes I did LOL, BUT, the pics I saw were differant, and DixieChick called him a RIR again. Now if you noticed, that was what I called him first. But the pics of the Nanking were the closest I could find, and confused me. Now I am trying to determine color. I am leaning towards Red and Blue or Wheaton.

I feel a little better today, but I still need to have a long talk with my boss. I will try to explain to where it makes sense.

Our radio station is sponsoring the North Missouri State Final for the Colgate Country Showdown. I have put a lot of hard work into the last 3 local showdowns and busted my butt to get the state final here this year. One of our employees wanted to enter her daughter into a local show with another station (she is not eligible here) so precious Chelsey could compete here. Rochelle asked a few months ago for me to check if she would be eligible for the state show here. So, I call the folks in Nashville that I am working with and they say "No, because your station bought the show it would not be fair." Okay, I totally agree and pass on the news. Well, last Friday Rochelle entered darling into a show about 45 minutes away, she won and they are now looking forward to competing here (no she never listens). I tell the boss Saturday night after our local show that I am obligated to call the nice people in Nashville so they are aware of the problem and can get some stations changed around so she can go to the South Mo. show. I get to work yesterday and the boss had sent a whiny, begging e-mail to Nashville wanting her to compete here and her Mother ran around here all day yesterday saying she was going to fight it and get it changed. Drove me crazy all day! Anyway, what it comes down to is that the Nashville people changed their minds and say she can compete because we are not supplying judges. I ask them "don't you think the other contestants will think it is unfair?" they told me they would address anything like that when it comes up. I said you are darned right you will!

My problem with the situation is not Chelsey, she just has "one of those mothers" and didn't even tell her there would be a problem. She not that good either, but not bad either. My problem is, 1) Don't ask me to check if you aren't going to follow the rules anyway 2) They both went behind my back to get the rule changed and 3) I think people will think that she gets special privilege because her mom works here. They don't know how the whole show is set up.

So, with that said, after all the hard work I have put into it, I will step down and hand over whatever work I have done on it to the boss and he can pass it on to Rochelle or whoever he chooses to take it over. Problem being, no one else will do it. But, not my problem now and I am not taking the flack for it. I am not defending something I don't believe in myself and I am not going to be under minded the next 6 weeks trying to get the details finished.

Sorry it is so long and hope you can kinda understand where I am coming from. If I am being totally off here, please let me know. I have struggled with it for 2 days now and I am totally miserable and hurt.

Work politics suck

I agree with you though. Rules are rules, and if they said no, it's no. The mother probably already knew it was breaking the rules. Why bother asking in the first place????

/rant on This is side note, and in no way related but... My name is ChelSEA. SEA as in the ocean. I realized the name has become popular over the years, but it drives me NUTS to see it spelled with a SEY, or an SIE. It's SEA as in the ocean..../rant off

I haven't talked to my boss yet, but I have gathered all the paperwork and just kinda waiting to settle down. It is hard because our families are also friends, but he hurt my feelings and doesn't even realize it although we had a conversation Sat. night and he knew how I felt about it then and he agreed with me then. Just like he doesn't realize he treats all of us different here. The sports director, me and a few others just take whatever is handed and do as we are told and get treated that way. Others he caters to so they don't get mad or rock the boat. It is our fault for not standing up to all of it, but that's just not me. I want what is best for the station, but to me, this isn't what is best. And yes, the spelling drives me crazy too, but that is how she spells it. The whole family has always gotten their way and that is just how it is around here. Therefore, I politely slip into the background and stay out of the mess. It isn't worth me getting all worked up about. I just hope I am wrong and it won't be the train wreck I am expecting.

What would worry me the most is wouldn't other folks participating in the contest notice this girl won at a different show? Would it be that hard for them to find out it is a family member of the station? If they did, I would imagine complaints coming for at least one contestant. That would be a mess!
If that's the case...hand it over to your boss, and let him handle it. If it was his decision then it's his problem.
