Bring your "Howdy's" here!

Hi! It seems like almost everyone has moved on! I'm sure Bluemoon will be here soon! How is everything with you? The heat is getting a little hard on my little chicks, I may have to bring the brooder back in the house. I have alot of bantam chicks and they are sooo little. Have you ever noticed that chicks grow slower with medicated feed? I was using non- medicated for a long time, and my chicks started getting cocc. so I switched to medicated and they are hardly growing at all!

We have had pretty mild weather here the last week or so (in the low 80s) after our week of 100s, but our brooder is in the garage and it isn't any too cool for them in there, so we may have to do something different with ours too. We usually just use the medicated feed, so I guess I wouldn't have anything to compare to, but that seems odd. I wonder why?

So, I spent my afternoon yesterday chasing water fowl through my front yard. They all escaped sometime yesterday. I let them free range, but only when someone is around, but they must have busted out to get to the cat food! Anyway, the original ones weren't too hard to round up, but the new one, Chester, doesn't know the drill yet, so he walked me around the yard for about 30 minutes before finally giving up and going back in! And of course, I was home alone at the time.

Gosh I wish it was in the 80s here! It is soo hot! I lost a silkie and a showgirl today! I am going to have to get them in the house. The only place I can make room is in my bedroom, but I think it would be a little hard on my breathing in there! Sooo I need another plan!
I hope you have a great weekend!!

Morning guys

I've been so darn busy training a puppy. Taking care of a pullet that has a broken leg, and massive amounts of laundry from DH. He got back on Saturday.

How is your little ball of fur doing? We had new kittens born on Friday night. Just waiting for them to look cute! lol Did you have a good weekend?

She is doing well. She is going to pop into a puppy social class later tonight, and goes to the vet tomorrow for final set of shots, heartworm, and flea preventative. I spent an hour over the weekend picking ticks off her because they are VERY bad this year. Her coat color is changing by the hour.

She will be a very light colored german shepherd.
She is sleeping right now, so I'm trying to sneak in a couple loads of laundry. I have to go check on our injured pullet too. We think she either fell off the roost, or was pushed off. She has always been skiddish, so my guess is a critter scared her.

It is too bad to hear about the pullet! We had an injured "teen" turkey in a pet carrier for a couple weeks, then loose in the garage about a week and now it is living with the goats. It has a bad leg and we were afraid the others would just pick on it to death. He gets along fine now, but every so often when he is walking along it seems like his leg just goes out from under him. He loves it with the goats though and was even pecking at the bottle this morning when I was feeding Bailey! I am trying to decide if we should move another one in to keep it company or if it will be happy with just goats.

You will have to post new pics of your puppy soon so we can keep up with her progress! We haven't had too many ticks yet, but they usually are pretty thick around here.
