Congratulations ,
hope you got the hatcher also LOL you are going to need it if you plan on filling up that bator just easer to keep things clean that way IMO and did you get the plexie door to cause ya know we must look and that little port hole didn't get it IMO

If anyone is looking for a cheap hatcher they might want to have a look at the Janoel 48 incubator. One can get them on eBay for about $108. I use one to for hatching or I use it as a NICU.

I didn't get any of they extras yet, I figure I've got a little time before they start laying again. I want to get the thing here and give it a good close inspection. Hubby does metal work and owns a sheet metal shop, I saw the large egg setting racks for like $80 each and I'm thinking he could probably make me some custom ones instead of paying that. I think I will probably use the hovabator and the other little octagon thingee as my hatchers now. I won't be hatching in the sportsman, just as you said I want to keep it clean. I don't know if I should get that plexie door or not, if I'm not hatching in it there won't be much to look at, but I am awfully nosey.

i just got a brinsea octagon advanced ex is that good for peafow anyone can share the parameters to have suceess on that incubator? ?

thanks a lot
Don't know anything about that one, i pretty much use broody hens now for peas because i don't have to do nothing but pull them and put them in the hatcher if i do that.
I have a couple cabinet bators and a hatcher they are sportsmans and i have wonderful hatch rates in them but i will still be using broody hens for my peafowl eggs , i got broodys everywhere and most are to old to lay anymore so rather than cull them i use them for hatching cause they are the best incubators in the world, some of mine never get off the nest even if it is empty, they will wait till i give them an egg or a wait till another hen comes and lays them an egg.

I never used a Brinsea....roll-X is the best hatch rate for me, but i used it for parrot eggs more than any other eggs. doesn't hold that many peafowl eggs for the money. Broody hens work, but i would pull the chicks. Lot of us that hatched alot , use both broody hens(first week) and incubators. Wish you was not so far away...i have over 12 incubators that i no longer need. Shipping cost would be a arm and leg.
Miss you Burt
