And how many were together??

I have been thinking of raising mother daughter and sister pairs. As I think on it, it makes so much sense to have the mama and daughter pair (instead of doing sisters) since the daughter will be raised in that "pecking order" and there don't have to be any big fights. Will you raise pairs, Benlyn?
There were three together, two were sisters and one was from a different litter. They all fought, so I assumed it’s hormones and them starting to create the pecking order/dominance. I went ahead and put the sisters in seperate cages outside. I was planning on moving them outside anyways, but wasn’t planning so soon lol! I may consider raising one of Willow’s does with her when it’s time for her to have babies if she seems lonely inside by herself.

I don't know much about it, but I think it sometimes happen when they dont have enough fiber. maybe try a different kind of hay? not sure if this helpful...
Just spent 4 hours working on her. So. Many. Maggots. It was awful. But there have been worse cases. I shaved her to the skin shoulders down. Ugh. She has a heating pad and is in a dog kennel in the house, if she makes it through the night and becomes more active, we'll upgrade the size.

Fly strike has nothing to do with hay ☺️ It is when flies lay their eggs on an animal. When the eggs hatch, the maggots begin to eat the animal. It's disgusting.

Oh man! I’m sorry you’re having to deal with it. It sounds awful. I haven’t had to deal with that yet, only read about it. I’ve only dealt with a botfly maggot in a cat, and that’s only one maggot! Can’t imagine many 🤮.

Yes. I believe it was because they were quarantined on the deck away from the rest of my herd, so even though they could get to the shade, the hutch was in the sun a morning and some of the afternoon. And that hutch didn't have wire so, even though I cleaned it almost nightly, it still got a little damp. Just another lesson to learn I suppose! I sure hope poor Linh makes it!
