Most likely this was just a tragic, unexpected death for everyone involved.
Call the vet to ease your mind, but I wouldn't spend the time you should be grieving, looking for a conspiracy or whatever.

I'm sure all this truly happened as the breeder said but what I don't understand is why no one knows who the vet is and why it's up to you to contact all the vets in Ashland to find him. Can't you get the transporters number from the breeder and ask them what vet he's at? I would think someone would have let you know where he was so you could chat with the vet to ease your mind at the very least.

Sorry to hear about Brodee, I feel your pain. My GSD stepped on my 5 lb little poodle girl and killed her instantly Saturday afternoon.
