We came out to find one of our hens limping yesterday morning. I flipped her on her back to try and see if I could find any noticeable problems. There is no swelling no discernible difference between the other leg and nothing on the bottom of her foot. The ankle does seem to have an inward instability but again no swelling around the joint. Could this possibly be a slipped tendon? Is this fixable?

The chicken is 1.3 years old and has never had any problems with her leg. We would rather not put her down unless her quality of life will go down hill. Please let me know if you have any advice. We do have one vet in town that will look at chickens.

I would either wrap the leg for support and see if it improves in a few days or go ahead and take her to the vet. You're very lucky to have a vet in your area that will tend to chickens. We don't have one so I would be stuck with the first option.
