Broken eggshells

Welcome to BYC.
What exactly do you feed your birds?
I fed them DuMor grower finisher crumble until onset of lay, then switched to layer pellets. I have oyster shell and grit available at all times. Shell does not appear to be thinner than other hens. I also feed them limited amounts of watermelon or cantalope rind, bologna, bread, once a day (only one treat daily).

Hello! Welcome to BYC!! :frow Do you have enough bedding in your nests?
Interesting you should ask. This particular hen uses a different nesting box than the other three. I keep filling it with fresh shavings, and she keeps kicking it out. Maybe I need to try a new nesting material. I currently use medium pine shavings.

Stop all treats.
Feed them only the complete balanced layer feed.

I already posted above but to be more specific I cut down a soft foam floor mat to fit snug in my boxes then put in a mix of pine shavings and hay. Even if one of them gets crazy rearranging the natural materials the soft mat stays put. Haven’t had a broken egg since other than the one my 3 year old grandson “helped” with! Hope it’s as simple as that for you too.
